What to do if you suspect your website stinks

Hopefully, your website isn’t this busy.  But if your website is below par, consider the wisdom of the great web design classic, Steve Krug’s Don’t Make Me Think and the new Rocket Surgery Made Easy

The most important thing is that you don’t make your website visitors think.  Everything should be “self-evident, obvious and self-explanatory,” as Krug puts it.

The only way you know if you’ve met that standard is to test your site.  It isn’t that hard to do basic web usability testing.  In fact, here’s a video by Steve Krug showing how it’s done:
