Fewer than half of surveyed nonprofits reported fundraising increases during the first half of 2011 compared with the same period in 2010, according to a report released by the Nonprofit Research Collaborative (NRC).
• Forty-four percent reported increases in charitable contributions received through June, compared with the same period in 2010;
• Twenty-five percent reported giving remained level;
• Thirty percent reported charitable contributions have declined so far this year; and
• One percent did not know.
But DO NOT PANIC!
You can and will succeed. So few nonprofits have great outreach - if you do well, you’ll rise to the top.
Now I’m going to make an unabashed product plug. Network for Good has a special in-depth training for holiday fundraising. It’s at least a $200 product, but we’re offering it for $50 because we know times are tough. If you’re using Network for Good’s other paid services, it’s free. Just check your account area.
You can order here.

I totally agree that there’s no need to panic! If fundraising folks will keep their eye on the goal and keep doing what works (telling their story, asking for a gift, and building relationships), it’ll all be fine.
