Inspiration: Hats off to the very alive city of Grand Rapids

When the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan made Newsweek’s list of dying cities, the people there did something extraordinary to show how wrong a description that was.

Check out the ten-minute, CONTINUOUS take, lip dub of Bye, Bye Miss American Pie.  Everyone from the mayor to local businesspeople to students starred.  As NPR put it in this story, “It’s a little counterintuitive, but a massive crowd ballet that specifically identifies no one turns out to be a surprisingly powerful translation of a impersonal economic projection to a story about individual people.”
