How to use the new fundraising tab on Facebook pages

Causes.com recently launched a new Facebook Page tab that helps nonprofits inspire their online supporters to give. More than 700 nonprofits adopted the tab in the first week, indicating just how excited nonprofits are to tap into peer-to-peer fundraising on Facebook. Here’s a guest post from Susan Gordon at Causes, explaining how their tool can help your cause.
With the new Causes tab, nonprofits can feature a general fundraising appeal

or a specific Causes Fundraising Project.

If you’re ready to jump-start your social media fundraising, I would suggest starting with these three steps:
1. Add the Causes Tab to your Page (note: you can rename the tab so it says “Give” instead of “Causes” and/or make it your default tab). The Causes Blog has step-by-step instructions for adding the tab and customizing it.
2. Create a Causes Fundraising Project so you can tell a clear story about what impact their donations make. Hundreds of nonprofits have created and funded projects through this tool since it was developed last year, totaling more than $3 million in new funding.
3. Promote, promote, promote! Send posts to your Page, Twitter, Causes, and other channels driving people to the Tab to donate and become a part of your community.
The Causes Nonprofit Services Team is happy to help any nonprofit design and run a fundraising campaign using this new tool. You can contact us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you’re interested or have any questions.

Please note that this application is not for all registered nonprofits, it’s exclusively for _American_ nonprofits. :-(
Haven’t seen this application yet. Thank you for the heads up. It would be interesting if non profit fundraising software companies could figure out a widget that helps track this widget’s financials into their systems.
Thank you for posting this! For those that would like more resources on Causes (especially for nonprofits), our blog is at http://exchange.causes.com I ju.st saw another great example of a nonprofit with the Tab: http://www.facebook.com/roomtoread?sk=app_2318966938
