How to tell a story: A template

The terrific Andy Goodman gave an inspiring and deeply useful session on storytelling for Network for Good yesterday (access the recorded webinar here).  He shared Brian McDonald’s template of what composes a great story: a relatable protagonist, an inciting incident, a series of barriers to overcome and a resolution.

He recommends the following McDonald-inspired template for structuring your stories:

Once upon a time ____________________, and every day ____________________ until one day ________________________
and because of this ________________________ and because of this ___________________________ until
finally _________________________ and ever since that day ________________________________________.

Try it for your stories.

Is there another link to access the recorded webinar? I went to the link provided, but I don’t see anyway to actually listen to the event.

This template for story telling is so simple, yet it works so well.
