At Network for Good, we’re troubled by the high volume of bad email in our sector. Just the other day, we were dismayed to get an email newsletter sent via bcc on Outlook as a PDF attachment. A triple bad! So we wanted to do something about it. With Kivi Leroux Miller, we put together an eBook on good email. And made it free. To you. Because you have a great mission, and so you need great email.
It covers:
Step 1: Get a Good Email Service Provider
Step 2: Get Your Mailing List into Shape
Step 3: Figure Out What Your Readers Want
Step 4: Compose Email Works of Beauty
Step 5: Make Your Microcontent Even Better
Step 6: Design Your Email Messages
Step 7: Track Your Results and Improve Your Program
Thanks Kivi for your brilliance. Nonprofit marketing friends, enjoy!

Thanks to Network for Good for being so generous with all the free resources you make available to the nonprofit world!
I am so glad to see more resources like this one become available for non-profits. Email is a tricky medium, both from a marketing perspective (content and getting people to open and click) and from a deployment perspective (Spam filters, IP reputation). But the benefits are more than worth it, particularly when email is used as a fundraising medium and not only as an information channel.
Many will find that to start this kind of initiative an outside service is extremely helpful and I would encourage you to check out companies like Cypra Media and others that can coach you on best practices and diminish the amount of time resources that you will invest in email with sub-par results when going it alone.
Excellent information here!
