Today, I want to continue the conversation about the report, Growing Philanthropy in the United States by Adrian Sargeant and Jen Shang. As I said yesterday, it talks about the need for a new fundraising paradigm to finally grow philanthropy.
In addition to its central theme of enhancing the quality of donor relationships (which I covered in the last post), it recommends we increase our credibility, reach new audiences and train ourselves better to do all of these things well.
I recommend you read the whole report, but here are some five best practices to heed:
*Give supporters greater control over their relationship with you
*Encourage monthly giving
*Encourage and promote best practices in social media
*Make it easier for your reports to gauge your effectiveness
*Do further research on what fundraising practices work best (if any funders are reading this, please contact me - I have the perfect testing ground for this!)
