Picture this: Your brilliance here

For the month of March, I’m hosting the nonprofit blog carnival. What that means is not cotton candy (sorry) but rather a mix of contributions from bloggers and readers on a shared theme, right here on my blog, on March 29.
This month’s theme is “picture this” because I feel we don’t do enough to pair great visuals with our stories. Share your favorite pictures, infographics, videos or even tongue-in-cheek graphs—or tips on how great causes can better show the impact of their work with images. All entries need to include a visual (or it’s okay if they are simply an image). In addition to featuring the best here, I will of course be creating a board on Pinterest. Because I love it.
While you’re pondering that theme, check out the February carnival by Marc Pitman on how fundraisers can take care of themselves here. It will tell you how to handle the sometimes stressful but always important work you do each day.
To enter the carnival for March, email your permalink to nonprofitcarnival at gmail dot com.
And here are two of my favorite visuals to get us started.

Katya,
Love the pic and of course the chart (forgot about that one).
Yes, pinterest is a great resource and all the rage, but sadly I’ve been waiting over 4 weeks for my invite. From a marketing perspective it certainly makes membership exclusive, but from the other perspective, “really” why not include everyone who wants to participate?
Funnily enough, just wrote this post on my personal blog last night about the importance of visuals at charity: water:

I love this idea of using visuals. Been doing it for years on flickr and now on Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/kanter/) collecting many boards that include visual tips, visualizations of research, etc. I am doing a session at the NTC on Data Visualization -

where we share more examples and tools on how to create.
I tried to submit a post over at the form for the carnival, but it looks like it had some glitches - glad you provided an email submission.
Thanks Paull - no one does images better than Charity:water!
Beth: Thanks for the submission.
Jan: I just sent you a Pinterest invite - be sure to check your spam filter! That’s where mine went originally.
I totally agree with you. I just finished a webinar on the importance of pinterest for nonprofits. Graphics are such an important part of what we do, capturing the heart of our work. I’m looking forward to participating in your nonprofit blog carnival!
Producing videos for nonprofits means it’s all about the visuals, which was the case when we put together this animated video for the local YMCA…
