Dying Man Throws Himself from Plane to Raise Money

I’ll bet that headline got your attention.  Thanks to First of Its Kind Philanthropy for calling attention to this rather unusual example of personal fundraising.  Visit Mike Blacktopp’s site here if you’d like to see his jump.

I’m in Dallas at the moment at the Association of Fundraising Professionals conference, but most the sessions are on asking for money rather than asking donors to ask for money.  I’d like to see more on this topic.  At Six Degrees, we’ve seen more than $300,000 raised in the past two months by bloggers and social networking folks.  Don’t forget, you may have some very compelling - and daring - fundraisers among your donors.  Ask them to spread the word.

If you happen to be in Dallas, drop by and say hi at the Network for Good booth, #747, or come to my session on Wednesday morning!

Hey Katya, the title surely got my attention...very flashy and sticky! I’ll be remembering this fund raising idea for a while now.

Although I’m only a 7-8hr ride to Dallas, I can’t make it for your conference though I’d love to. Good luck, and hopefully I will see you live soon.

    Ciao,
    Ron E.
